Aaron Kelly – Attorney, Kelly / Warner Law

After reading his interview on RookStoolInterviews.com, we reached out to Aaron Kelly to see what he had to say for us.  As a busy legal attorney, we were interested to see what Aaron does in his spare time and what drives his motivation day to day.

Aaron Kelly, Esq. is an accomplished legal professional based out of Scottsdale, Arizona.  With an early interest in technology and e-commerce, attorney Aaron Kelly has focused his practice towards businesses and other professionals that serve customers through emerging online media channels.

Without an ever-growing interest in new technologies and its use, it would be nearly impossible to stay up to date with the way businesses are trending.  However, Aaron Kelly enriches his knowledge regularly by attending tech-based trade shows, staying in touch with its community and surrounding himself with like-minded entrepreneurs allowing him to serve his clients in a more personal way.

Upon graduating from Michigan State University’s College of Law in 2006, Aaron Kelly sought to sharpen his practice by concentrating on startups that were unique and interesting to him.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love to read and digest information.  There’s always more to learn and I’m a firm believer in bettering yourself with knowledge.  It doesn’t have to be related to your profession, but if anything excites you or makes you want to learn more, dive head deep into it.

When I’m not reading, I enjoy exploring Arizona off the beaten path.  I’ve recently got into four wheeling as a unique way to experience the desert.

What’s your favorite type of food?

Steak.  A properly aged and rested cut of beef can’t be beat!

What are your aspirations in life?

I’ve always tried to better myself in every way possible.  Be the best friend, the best professional, the best husband and the best version of myself.  I’ve been tested in the past and I’m sure the future will continue to do that, but those challenges are what’s going to be setting the bar to the next level.

What’s your favorite thing about working in this industry?

The people I meet and the relationships that come out of them tend to last a lifetime.  The legal industry isn’t as exciting as what movies portray it to be.  It’s usually like that right?  For me, the excitement and reward come out of the relationships I build with others.

Some of my closest friends have come out of referrals for business.  Without Kelly / Warner Law, I wouldn’t have gotten to know some of the brightest minds or expanded the way I look at the world and technology’s place in it.

What’s one piece of advice that you can share with others?

There’s one sentence that has stuck with me recently in The Monk Who Sold His Ferarri, by Robin Sharma. It’s this: “You truly cannot afford the luxury of a negative thought – not even one”.

This little sentence relates to all aspects of our lives.  On average, we think sixty thousand thoughts each day, ninety-five percent of which are from yesterday.  We’re cluttered with thoughts, anxiety, and worries of what happened yesterday and the day before that and so on.  We’re even more stressed about the future so much, in some cases, that we forget to focus on what we have right in front of us.

It makes no sense to dwell on the past or what may happen in the future.  Once you stop doing that, worries just melt away.
