Dr. Mark McKenna – Entrepreneur and CEO/Founder of OVME Aesthetics
Dr. Mark McKenna is a board-certified medical doctor, serial entrepreneur, and founder of the hottest new medical aesthetics center in Atlanta, OVME. OVME Aesthetics opened in March 2018 and delivers a curated medical aesthetic experience to its clients, helping them achieve their personal best skin health in a contemporary and inviting environment. It is innovative, client-focused, and promises to be “the best OV you”.
What are some things that you love?
There are many things that I love. First and foremost, I love my family – my beautiful wife and daughter. I also love being an entrepreneur. I had my own business in New Orleans and have started two companies here in Atlanta. The first one, ShapeMed, I sold to Lifetime Fitness. Now, I’ve recently launched OVME Aesthetics, which I am very excited about. I also love that OVME has teamed up with the Make A Wish Foundation and is donating a portion of its proceeds to this amazing organization.
What’s your favorite T.V. show?
My favorite show has to be Shark Tank. I love watching other entrepreneurs pitch their ideas. Some of the ideas and products are just so creative! Plus, as an entrepreneur myself, it is very interesting to watch the “sharks” negotiate and listen to their reasons why they propose their offers or turn down the opportunities all together.
What are your aspirations in life?
Professionally speaking, my biggest aspiration right now is to watch OVME grow and expand into a national brand. Right now, medical spas and aesthetics are extremely popular throughout the country, however, most facilities are local to their area. There is no one brand that is recognized on a national level. My goal is for OVME to fill that space and to be a place in any large city or state where people can go and know they are getting high-quality care from a very skilled team. We opened our first location in Atlanta, GA in March, but this is only the beginning.
What’s your favorite thing about working in your industry?
OVME provides me with an opportunity to use both my medical training and business skills to create a successful life for my family and to help other people improve their skin health. And another thing that is really exciting about OVME is that we are utilizing an innovative, direct-to-consumer mobile platform that allows our members to schedule or change their appointments, update their memberships, read the latest information skin health, etc. from our mobile app. It is an exciting time for me to be in this industry.
What motivates you every day?
I’ve had many motivators throughout my life, and one constant one has been my family. My parents in New Orleans, and my wife and daughter here in Atlanta. Aside from family, my biggest motivator right now is watching OVME grow. It was a process to get to the point where we could launch the business. And it has taken off with enormous success, which I am really excited about. So, I am really motivated right now to promote OVME and look forward to seeing it in major cities across the country.
