What are your favorite books?
Literature has been one of my most treasured pastimes and there have been so many wonderful books that have influenced me on both a personal and professional level. In terms of my professional career, I have found inspiration from books like “Cutting for Stone,” by Abraham Verghese, “The Emperor of all Maladies: A Biography of Cancer,” by Siddhartha Mukherjee, and “Arrowsmith,” by Sinclair Lewis. I have read each of these books on multiple occasions, and I imagine that I will return to each one again in the future.
What’s your favorite type of food?
I have always been very open-minded about the types of food I eat, but I tend to favor meals made up of locally sourced ingredients. There are a number of traditional cuisines I enjoy, but lately I have developed a preference for Mediterranean-style cuisine and have become something of a regular at a restaurant not all that far from my practice that specializes in traditional Greek dishes.
What are your aspirations in life?
I know that I am incredibly fortunate to work in a field that allows me to provide such an important service to patients, so my main aspiration is to continue to serve patients to the very best of my ability. We believe in a patient-centered approach to medicine and do everything within our power to make sure that our patients are comfortable at every stage of their care.
What’s your favorite thing about working in your industry?
It is simply so rewarding to work with patients as they welcome new members to their family or become parents for the first time, and I am consistently humbled by the gratitude expressed by my patients. I am just so grateful for the opportunity to assist patients through my expertise, and I am always overjoyed to work with each and every one.
What’s one piece of advice you can share with others?
For those who have not yet decided on a career path or are considering a change in fields, I would advise that they focus on choosing a profession they find to be rewarding and personally gratifying. It took a great deal of personal reflection to decide to pursue a career in medicine, and I have never regretted the amount of time I spent contemplating this clearly important and personal life decision.
