What do you do in your spare time?

I don’t really have a lot of spare time these days. My work schedule keeps me pretty busy. But if I had to identify what I love to do in my spare time, my work life often overlaps with what I like to do during my personal time. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. My daughter and I like to go shopping together, do lunch together and on our productive days go spinning or running together. You could call this our special “girly” mother/daughter time.

I am a people person. Fortunately, in my work a lot of business is done via social gatherings. There are a lot of work parties and charity events that I often need to attend. These events allow me to experience my friends, especially my work friends, in a totally new way. I enjoy spending time with my work friends, who often become my personal friends, because they are so passionate, motivated and talented at what they do. Being around them is both rewarding and energizing.

The weekends are all about spending time with my family and seeing the friends, who I don’t get to see during the week.

I’m also a photographer in my own mind (ha!). I’m a big picture taker and poster. This often embarrasses my family, but I’m ok with that. I click and post away, anyway. I enjoy documenting the beautiful and quieter moments of life. It’s a creative and fun outlet for me. Plus, everyone always appreciates my photos, after the fact.

I also enjoy searching for and finding unique vintage jewelry pieces. Anyone who knows me, knows I can’t have enough baubles in my life. I actually like vintage everything, including clothes, trinkets, etc. Jewelry is like artwork. Each piece is beautiful in its own right. And what makes it particularly special, is that each piece comes with its own unique history and story.

My love of jewelry inspired me to create my own jewelry line called, Vise Mari, which is Romanian for Dream Big. I designed pieces based on both my personal collection and pieces I wish were in my personal collection. It’s really great when I see my friends wearing and enjoying these pieces. I feel like a proud mother.

What’s your favorite film?

I do love the film, When Harry Met Sally. I’m a big romantic at heart. This was the perfect romantic comedy in my opinion. I love almost any movie Goldie Hawn has made. She’s a huge comedic talent. Private Benjamin is a Favorite of mine. I think I’ve seen that movie over 5 times. I enjoyed Overboard, too. But I think my favorite movie of Hawn’s was with Chevy Chase and Charles Grodin, called Seems Like Old Times. I enjoyed it every single time that I’ve seen it.

A current movie that made me laugh, from beginning to end, was Spy with Melissa McCarthy. That was a really hilarious movie! All of the above are funny feel-good movies. I think the world can’t have too many movies that can make us laugh and feel good right now.

What are your aspirations in life?

Well, I would love to write more books. I love writing, and find the process a real labor of love. I plan to continue doing more television, perhaps have my own show one day. I’d love to be involved in hosting a documentary.

I am drawn to discussing intellectually stimulating topics. I would love to learn another language. Spanish would be my first choice. And I would like to include more traveling into my life. Traveling always helps put life into a more mature and better perspective.

What’s your favorite thing about working in your industry?

I really love how challenging and intellectually stimulating my job is. I get to meet and work with the most interesting people. I never know what my day is going to look like, because anything can happen at any time. And my work never gets boring. I am always being challenged.

What motivates you every day?

I think what motivates me every day is passion. I feel very passionate about what I do. I am always striving to do better and be better, and to be the successful person I’ve always wanted to be.
