Jacques Poujade – Managing Partner at LendPlus
Jacques Poujade represents LendPlus, a direct lender based in Aliso Viejo, California specializing in residential home loans. Mr. Poujade is a financial services professional and has been in the mortgage industry for decades.
Outside of running LendPlus, Jacques focuses his time, energy, and effort on charitable causes. Jacques is a supporter of Micah’s Way, a non-profit based out of Santa Ana, CA who supports the poor and homeless in the local area. Micah’s Way is entirely run by volunteers who are passionate about giving back to the local community.
We connected with Jacques Poujade and asked him a few questions about his charitable efforts, background in the mortgage industry, and his outlook on business and life.
What do you do in your spare time?
Giving back and working with charitable organizations in my local area is one of my passions. It’s an incredible feeling knowing my efforts are directly supporting the less fortunate in my community. Feeding those individuals and taking care of people who are in need of support feels good. Giving back is important to me and something I look forward to in my spare time.
What’s your favorite type of food?
Grilling on the weekends is something that’s enjoyable and being able to cook outside is always more fun than preparing something in the kitchen. Food seems to taste better when it’s hot off the grill. A backyard BBQ is always fun, social, and has a variety of great food for everyone to share.
What do you wish you knew before starting a business?
It’s important to develop and refine your own style and approaches when it comes to management and business development. Strategies that work for other people may not always work for you. Learn to embrace new business experiences using trial and error methods to get better and develop more confidence. Last, running a business never gets “easier” over time. You just learn to adapt to challenges faster and with less fear because you have more experience.
What’s your favorite think about working in your industry?
Making home ownership a reality for our clients is incredibly rewarding. It’s easy to take the residential mortgage lending industry for granted but the reality is that most people purchase homes using some type of financing to make the purchase happen.
Being a part of one of the biggest and most important financial decisions people make provides a sense of purpose and responsibility for both myself and my team.
What’s one piece of advice you can share with others?
Never give up! Life will deliver challenges personally and professionally you may think you’re not prepared to handle.
It’s important to face those challenges with a positive attitude, take responsibility, and push toward your desired result. Persistence and success go hand-in-hand.
