Mark Campell-VP of Marketing at InventureX

Mark Campbell has made it his mission to provide consistent and results-driven marketing to those he works with. As the VP of Marketing for InventureX, he’s seen the incredible growth and potential of crowdfunding. And continues to find ways to help other entrepreneurs secure funding for their products.

With a running record of over 300 successful product and ideas, he certainly has the know-how to envision the entirety of every campaign. His work is impressive, given that the success of InventureX is dependant upon the creative marketing strategies from Mark and the rest of the team.

Since 2012, InventureX has been helping clients jumpstart their journey into entrepreneurship. And since then, Campbell has continued to collaborate with innovators. The present and future of InventureX are looking bright with great reviews and positive chatter, and he’s already looking ahead to create a path to success.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love the fact that I live in California. Having our office in Santa Monica means I can get in scenic walks in the morning (when I have the chance). I also really like car shows, traveling and track racing. Racing is exhilarating, and it pushes me every time.

What’s your favorite type of food?

I’m lucky because there are so many different types of food in the area to try out. I have to say I’m very partial to sushi and Mexican food though. I know, it’s the typical “coastal” answer but it’s true! My wife and I are always discovering new sushi rolls we’ve never tried before and sometimes we try to make them at home. 

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

A colleague of mine told me that it’s not ok to play it safe all the time. Sometimes you have to get uncomfortable and see what the outcome is. It’s that fear that I’m sure a lot of entrepreneurs share because failure is supposed to stop us dead in our tracks. So we opt to not take risks. But there are times it calls for it and you have to follow that path.

Also, the concept of “new power” by Jeremy Heimans has helped me understand the changing startup environment. As a crowdfunding marketing agency, we see “new power” at work every day when launching campaigns that get mass exposure and convince strangers to participate in raising funds. What’s Your Favorite Thing About Working In Your Industry?

The never-ending chaos! I know that sounds extremely odd, but I like building structure out of everyday problems we run into. It’s always nonstop but it keeps me on my toes. It makes me want to work harder so InventureX can thrive.

What Motivates You Every Day?

It’s like Kyle Thomas (our CEO) says; it’s gotta be our clients. To see a client find their success is the best feeling and it gets me pumped to help the next person. It’s hard out there in markets that are completely flooded. There are so many good ideas, and not all of them get to blossom into reality. I’m highly motivated to get those ideas that are calling for help up to the forefront. I can’t get better if my client can’t get to their end goal. So I take it seriously when it comes to each of their crowdfunding campaigns.
