1. Where were you born?
I grew up in Mendocino, California. My lifelong fondness for Northern California is the reason that my family and I currently live in the Bay Area of San Francisco. Since River Cohen Giving is based out of Scottsdale, Arizona, I typically maintain a fairly hectic travel schedule, but being able to raise my family in a place as beautiful as the Bay Area makes any possible inconvenience entirely worthwhile.
2. What’s your favorite type of food?
As a resident of the Bay Area, I have access to some truly remarkable restaurants that specialize in authentic dishes from a wide array of regions and cultures from all over the world. My family and I tend to gravitate toward the restaurants that prepare their dishes using locally sourced ingredients. There are quite a few Thai restaurants in the area that have demonstrated this kind of commitment and offer outstanding menu options.
3. What are your aspirations in life?
I’ve devoted the entirety of my professional career to socially conscious entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors, and it has long been my sincere hope to bring about a great deal of positive societal change through these specific endeavors. Although River Cohen Giving has accomplished so much since its founding in 1995, we still aspire to effect societal change in any way possible and have worked diligently to encourage others to engage in similar socially conscious efforts as well.
4. What’s your favorite thing about working in your industry?
It is with great joy that we have so many opportunities to help others through the work we do at River Cohen Giving. I am grateful to work alongside so many committed individuals willing to do whatever it takes to support and promote the kind of philanthropic endeavors that ultimately help so many people in the United States and all over the world.
5. What’s one piece of advice you can share with others?
As an experienced entrepreneur and philanthropist, I often find myself in a position to offer advice to those aspiring to accomplish goals similar to my own. My advice is always simple and straightforward: If you want to enjoy a rewarding professional career, simply adhere to socially conscious principles and make a commitment to consistently pursuing the types of goals most likely to benefit all of society.
