Shaun Barratt – Digital Recruitment Specialist

It was more than 13 years ago when Shaun Barratt first founded Salt Recruitment Limited, an HR recruitment firm based out of Auckland, New Zealand. Barratt, a digital recruitment specialist who continues to serve as his company’s director, has overseen a rampant international expansion in which Salt Recruitment is now able to reach clients on a global scale through office locations in Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, New York, London, and, of course, Auckland.

1. What do you do in your spare time?

Before founding Salt Recruitment, I was actually a professional chef and worked in a popular local restaurant for quite some time. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking for — and, on rare occasions, with the help of — my family. I am also a voracious reader and always look forward to any spare time in which I can simply read a good book from cover to cover.

2. What’s your favorite film?

I tend to mostly watch documentaries and certainly prefer reading a book to watching a film, but I’ll always have a soft spot for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I’ve always loved the fact that the film succeeded in making the impossible seem eminently possible and emphasized the importance of innovation and creativity across all endeavors.

3. What are your aspirations in life?

My professional aspirations as director of Salt Recruitment include overseeing the continual development of innovative strategies for digital recruiting as well as the further expansion of our international reach. My personal aspiration is to simply continue to be a great husband to my wife and a great father to my children.

4. How could you improve your business?

We are always on the lookout for any potential weaknesses or inefficiencies that could be improved upon, which is why we are so committed to developing new and innovative strategies that benefit the entirety of our industry and not just our company alone. We believe that it is our responsibility to make all aspects of HR recruiting more efficient and effective in a manner that benefits everyone involved, especially our clients.

5. What are you most proud of?

From a professional perspective, I am most proud of the fact that Salt Recruitment has expanded at such a rapid rate due to increasing demand for our services from potential clients all over the globe. This demand is a product of the level of service we provide to our clients, and I could not be more proud of the reputation we have established on such a massive scale. On a personal level, I am immensely proud of the wonderful family I have at home and always look forward to spending as much time as possible with them.
