Tana Ava Taylor

In the 21st-century, the traditional family unit has changed and now includes those who have been adopted and blended families. Tana Ava Taylor is a talented photographer who wished to create a comfortable photographic studio where families can be celebrated in all their forms. Based in Los Angeles, the Tana & Rose Photography brand is one of the fastest growing in California offering a range of impressive portraits and family-themed photographs.

Alongside her business partner, Rose Hamilton, Tana Ava Taylor has created a photographic boutique designed to make all families feel at home and free from a judgment in their Los Angeles base. Tana Taylor adoption photo shoots are among the most popular options offered by the Tana & Rose Photographic brand. As more families look to add to their numbers using non-traditional methods, the number of Ava Taylor adoption shoots looks set to grow. After such an impressive launch of her Tana & Rose Photography brand, Tana Ava Taylor is hoping her own experiences of being adopted, and being a working Mom will allow a greater level of success to be created for this impressive creative photographic boutique.

What are your favorite books?

That is a really difficult question to answer as I’m always trying to read something but often finding everyday life gets in the way of my literary choices. I may be far behind the times, but regarding fiction, I enjoyed “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn. I’ve recently been looking to learn more about history through the books of British historian Lucy Worsley who makes some entertaining documentaries along with her books. Regarding photography, I have recently been reading, “David Bailey’s Book of Photography” which is a thrilling read because I love his portrait work.

What’s your favorite type of food?

I love so many different types of food it is hard to pin down a single type of cuisine I enjoy the most. Living and working in Los Angeles means I have access to a wide range of different foods to try. One of the types of food I have enjoyed recently is Indian cuisine as a new restaurant just opened close to my house and it has opened up a new taste palette to me. I still love a hamburger every so often but I recently turned vegetarian, so I am trying to avoid the traditional American foods like hot dogs and barbecue.

Describe your typical day.

One thing I’ve learned as a business owner is there is no such thing as a typical day. As I start my day, I like to get up early, so the kids are still in bed when I rise. I find this allows me to have a few moments to simply sit and think about the day ahead. I often run or cycle with my children before getting them ready for the day and completing the school run myself. Most days, I like to get into the office early and handle any messages, ordering issues, and make sure all shoot reservations are noted and prepared for. Our adoption shoots are increasingly popular with families across Los Angeles and have been known to become quite emotional. My day often ends around six in the evening, so I can make it home in time to eat with my kids and put them to bed.

What is your favorite thing about working in your industry?

I love working in family photography and spend most of my days in a happy mood because of the loving families I work with. One thing which always stands out for me is the fact the families I work with can have some touching, and emotional stories to share. As we work on a shoot with a family, I like to think I make an emotional connection to them which shows in the images we capture at Tana & Rose Photography.

What’s one piece of advice you can share with others?

Never give up. No matter how difficult life gets, there is always a shaft of light at the end of the business corridor. In the early days of our business, my business partner and I found ourselves struggling to make a go of things, but perseverance paid off in a big way as time progressed.
