What are your favorite books?
Whenever I have the time to sit down with a good book, I tend to pour through new business books and ones I’ve read before. I can’t ever get enough of The Men, The Mission and Me by Pete Blaber. While it’s based on military concepts, some of the lessons in that book are perfect for anyone in leadership.
One of my favorite lessons from reading it is “Always listen to the guy on the ground”. For us at Radium2 Capital, it’s about paying attention and listening to our clients’ needs and being aware of the challenges they face.
What’s your favorite film?
Gladiator has always topped my list! Not only is it an entertaining, action-packed movie, I love Russel Crowe’s character as a fallen General as he fights his way to glory. I think every man can resonate with a movie like that!
Raging Bull is definitely a close second!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Someone once told me that business ideas are worth almost nothing. It takes the right team and strategy to put it in place if you’re going to have a shot at being successful. Execution is everything and I think many entrepreneurs get this wrong.
What’s your favorite thing about working in your industry?
I love being able to help small businesses get off the ground and running. Funding is tough to come by and not every company is built from scratch. Many require assistance.
I enjoy reaching out to businesses we’ve helped in the past by phone and catching up with them. Seeing clients that have met their goals reassures me that we’re doing the right thing at Radium2 Capital.
What motivates you every day?
Radium2 Capital is always at the forefront of helping those in need with respect to funding. It’s different than crowdfunding or how Kickstarter works. Whether it’s our clients, our employees’ families, or the community that supports us, I always try to instill a sense of giving back to those that helped us get where we are today.
My motivation comes from seeing a smile from someone that we’ve helped along the way. Never take anything for granted. I make it a habit to give gratitude for everything our company has accomplished.
